Guidelines for Submissions to Eternal Ink
There are some requests that apply to all submissions:
1. Submit your work in the body of an email, not in an attachment.
2. Only submit your own writing and be sure to include your name as author.
3. At the end of your work, give your email address and any pertinent copyright information.
4. Be sure to proofread your work before you send it.
5. Eternal Ink uses Christian writing about Christian themes. Nothing in your writing should be contrary to Bible truths.
6. The version of the Bible being used for quoted verses and passages should be acknowledged in abbreviated form in parentheses: (KJV), (NIV), etc.
(Submit to the appropriate editor)
Guidelines for Poetry:
1. Poems should be no more than 40 lines long, and no more than three poems should be submitted at one time. Short poems, between 10 and l5 lines long, are preferred.
2. All poetic forms are welcome, but the poetry content should be centered around Christian themes and concerns.
3. Scriptural quotes must be acknowledged after the end of the poem, giving Bible book, chapter, and verse(s). If a portion of the Bible has been your inspiration for a poem, that should likewise be given after the end of the poem. Poets frequently use allusions to other writings, so these should also be acknowledged.
4. While not absolutely required, a good title for your poem can be an aid to understanding and a motivation for reading.
Guidelines for Prose Submissions:
(Usually includes Devotions, Meditations, Profile or Character Sketch, Features, including topical essays or Christian Living, and Short Humor)
1. Try to keep the length within the 300-500 word count. While we do accept longer pieces of exceptional merit, we are interested in maintaining reader appeal and interest.
2. While we do occasionally accept creative writing, we are primarily interested in creative non-fiction centered around Christian themes and concerns.
3. The best devotions are based on Bible passages and verses. Quote marks should surround any exactly quoted words from Scripture or other sources.
4. Remember to acknowledge any source you use either in the body of writing or in a note after the writing is complete. You should acknowledge author, title, publisher and date of publication or copyright.
5. While we do use "author unknown" materials that circulate the Internet, we would prefer these to be submitted by editors only. Every attempt should be made to find out if there is an author who should be acknowledged.
